Turkey Baked Ziti

This is one of our go-to weeknight meals, not the fanciest of meals but it’s super simple and it’s a crowd pleaser. The items you’ll need for this are staple things that I try to keep stocked in my pantry just in case I need to throw something together last minute. I will say that fresh herbs are way better but the chance that I have that lying around is slim and dried herbs are fine for this recipe. Also, this little jewel is something you can make ahead of time, before the kids get home, and heat up later if needed and it is just as good.

- 1 lb. box Ziti pasta, whole wheat

- 15 oz. (Part-Ski)m Ricotta Cheese

- 6 oz. can of tomato paste

- 3/4 teaspoon of garlic powder

- 3/4 teaspoon onion powder

- 1/2 tablespoon basil, chopped

- 1/2 tablespoon parsley, chopped

- salt + pepper to taste

-Boil pasta, drain and set aside.

-Brown turkey in a medium skillet.

-Combine crushed tomatoes, herbs, tomato paste, salt & pepper to taste and browned turkey meat into large bowl

-Add cooked ziti noodles and mix well then set aside.

-Combine ricotta, egg, parmesan cheese, 1/2 of mozzarella cheese and onion and garlic powder in a medium bowl and mix well.

-Layer 1/3 of turkey/ziti mixture, and add spoonfuls of ricotta to cover this 1st layer.

-Repeat for two more layers.
